Overview

Boke Níhfās was founded durring the early 13th century in spring of the year 1231, by Arianrhod. The establishment of the new community went well, though many minor issues had to be solved as time went on. This was enough to delay construction and push back the formal opening ceramony, leading to some embarisment for Arianrhod.

Boke Níhfās was built using the conventions of Tauran durring the early 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Boke Níhfās is no diffrent. The city's buildings feature masoned stone construction which prominantly features pointed arches, pointed ribbed vault cielings, flying buttress', and window tracery all of which share a simmilar gemoetetic patern halfway between organic and inorganic in design formaing a very distinct aesthetically integrated style. BUildings tend to reach for the havens, and more expencive homes are easily identified by their floor count as well as the addition of decorative features intigrated into the building's design such as statues, gargoyals, and embelished joinery.

Boke Níhfās is buildings are located arround a single restrictive paverstone mainstreet which forms a clockwise spiral to give the city a over all circular shape. The city rests behind a thin stone wall. The wall's design was likly directly copied from a castle's parmiter defences. It's simply that the arcatect made Boke Níhfās's wall substancialy thinner than a castle's walls. While the towers and gatehouses are adiquite, the obvious cost savings measure of making the walls drasticaly thinner reduces their ability to resist siege weapons greatly. The city's impressive-looking wall could fail at a critical moment in battle, and would likely not even resist a few bandits with improvised siege equipment. Unfortuantly, these budget oriented are in extreem disrepair, so much so that one cannot tell if they are decaying from a lack of mantance or damage incured.

The locals seem to be very much into scholastic pursuits, based on the hushed, murmured conversations you hear at least. Everyone in Boke Níhfās acts like they have discovered something wondrous, and are worried they will endure some horrible fate so another can take what they’ve discovered for themselves.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century, Boke Níhfās was attacked by soldiers from another nation, waging a greater campaign. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Boke Níhfās lost 145 people, 149 livestock, and 77 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 166, when members of Boke Níhfās's militia enacted an operation to deliver a message to a influential figure, then secure them. The operation was complicated by one of the key objectives in the operation requiring sticking to a very strict and short time table. The conflict ended with a last stand against the enemy until a particular event occurred, which ended in a crushing defeat for Boke Níhfās's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Boke Níhfās's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
